Cutting Technologies installed a dynamic waterjet to eliminate the errors and flaws that conventional waterjets possess.

Cutting Technologies dynamic waterjet no longer remains stagnant at 90 degree angles to plane of a flat plate but tilts automatically as required depending on the material and part.  The waterjet software “thinks ahead” as parts are cut, calculating optimal cutting path and contact angle of the jet to produce perfect geometry.

Dynamic waterjet virtually eliminates stream lag and edge taper whil improving edge finish and cutting speeds.  Edge taper is eliminated because the waterjet cutting head is tilted to take all the taper off the “good side” of the part.  Inside corners are improved because the entrance angle and exit points are altered to ensure the stream does whatever is required to produce an accurate corner with minimal speed reduction.

The basic waterjet technology is at once both simple and extremely complex. When water is pressurized up to 60,000 pounds (or more) per square inch (psi) and forced through a tiny opening, it can cut a variety of soft materials including food, paper and baby diapers, rubber and foam. When small amounts of abrasive particles, such as garnet, are mixed into the waterjet stream, the resulting “abrasive waterjet” can cut virtually any hard material such as metal, composites, stone and glass. This process is known as waterjet cutting.

A UHP waterjet can also be harnessed to accomplish a variety of industrial cleaning applications, including cleaning ship hulls and automotive painting equipment. Most recently, UHP has been adapted by Flow to achieve the benefits of pasteurization without the undesirable effects of heat. Not only are some spoilage microorganisms destroyed, UHP waterjet cutting can also destroy harmful pathogens such as E. coli bacteria and listeria.
